The short version: PassPath keeps your data on your iPhone.

There is no account to create, no server holding a copy of your plan, and no third-party analytics or advertising code in the app. Support messages and information made available through Apple’s distribution and diagnostics services are described below. Calendar providers, device backups and destinations you choose for exported files may also hold copies.

Who we are

PassPath is an independent iPhone app for planning ACCA exam revision, published by Brendan Rice, a sole trader based in the United Kingdom ("we", "us"). For the small amount of personal data described below, we are the data controller under UK GDPR. You can reach us at [email protected].

PassPath is not affiliated with, endorsed by or connected to the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA).

What the app stores, and where

Study data is stored in the app’s local device storage. Depending on your device settings, it may also be included in an Apple device backup. Exports and calendar sync create additional copies at destinations you choose. That includes:

None of this is transmitted to us. We operate no server for the app and hold no copy of your study data. Planning, timers and included practice work offline without sign-in. External resource links, email, software distribution and provider-managed calendar syncing may need a connection.

Device permissions

PassPath asks for two optional permissions. Declining either leaves the rest of the app fully usable, and you can change your mind at any time in iOS Settings.

PermissionWhat it's used for
Notifications Optional local study reminders for upcoming pending sessions across your paper plans. PassPath schedules up to 50 upcoming reminders and refreshes them when you reopen the app or change your plans. Reminder delivery depends on iOS settings. PassPath does not register a remote push token or send reminder data to a push service.
Calendar Only requested when you enable calendar sync. Full calendar access lets PassPath locate its own calendar and maintain events whose identifiers it has recorded. It does not import personal events into your study plan or delete unrelated events. Turning sync off removes tracked study events where permission allows; it preserves the calendar and other events. Your calendar provider may sync events to its own servers and devices. Copies made outside PassPath remain under your control.

Diagnostics log

The app keeps a small, capped log of in-app events on your device — things like "plan created" or "session completed", with a timestamp. It holds the most recent 500 events and older ones are discarded automatically.

This log stays on your device. It is only ever shared if you choose to send feedback: the feedback option in Settings opens your email app with a recent summary already filled in, which you can read, edit or delete before you send it. Nothing is sent in the background.

Information you send us

If you email us feedback or a support question, we receive whatever you chose to include — typically your email address, your message and, if you left it in, the diagnostic summary described above.

What we don't do

Third-party services

Apple distribution and diagnostics. Apple may process installation, usage, crash and feedback information under Apple’s privacy policy. Depending on the distribution method and your settings, Apple may make identifiable feedback or diagnostics available to the developer. Only include information you intend to share when submitting feedback.

This website. passpath.io is a static site served through Cloudflare, which processes standard request data (such as IP address) to deliver pages and protect against abuse. The site sets no analytics or advertising cookies.

Your data, your control

PassPath does not hold a server copy of your local study plan. Manage exported files, calendar-provider copies and Apple backups separately. For support correspondence or app feedback sent to us, contact support about deletion.

Your rights

Under UK GDPR you have the right to access, correct, erase, restrict or object to our use of personal data we hold about you, and to receive it in a portable form. These rights apply to personal data we hold, including support correspondence and identifiable feedback or diagnostics made available through Apple. Email [email protected] and we'll respond within one month.

If you're unhappy with how we've handled your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.

International transfers

Local study processing does not require sending your plan to us. Email, Apple services, website hosting, calendar providers and destinations you choose for exports may process information in other countries. The applicable provider terms and safeguards govern those services.

Children

PassPath is intended for people preparing for professional accountancy exams. It is not directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect information from them.

Changes to this policy

If a future version of PassPath introduces accounts, cloud sync or any form of remote analytics, this policy will be updated before that version ships and the change flagged in the app. Less significant updates will be reflected in the "last updated" date at the top of this page.
